Unknown presents Turbo Island

Unknown Art Gallery Amsterdam presents Turbo Island, a group exhibition that unites six artists whose practices could not be more different, yet who share a fearless intensity in their work. Rather than harmony, this exhibition thrives on contrast, bringing together voices that are bold, uncompromising and explosively alive.

Artist line up:

DH Mack

Mack explores the psychology of human desire and the dynamics of society. Her paintings transform personal observations into carefully composed narratives that reflect loneliness, ambition and invisibility.

Kees te Kolsté

With a career spanning nearly six decades, te Kolsté moves between abstraction and figuration. His Zen-inspired discipline and trance-like process reveal an inner world in constant transformation.

Tess Heijnis

Heijnis creates layered paintings in which vulnerability and intensity coexist. Her works resist fixed interpretation and open a contemplative space for emotion and imagination.

Stefan van den Heuvel

Van den Heuvel fuses typography, design and experimental printing techniques. Building his own tools, he develops a graphic language that invites viewers to read beyond words.

Marcelo Segall

Segall’s work confronts issues of consumerism, privacy and sustainability. Playful at first glance, his pieces unfold as sharp critiques of the contradictions of contemporary society.

Nonna Hoogland

Hoogland reinterprets Renaissance ideals through a playful lens, blending kitsch and contemporary culture. Her sculptures and paintings center the female identity, balancing humour with vulnerability.
