Matthew Ryan Herget

Matthew Ryan Herget

Matthew Ryan Herget (b. 1990, Miami, Florida) is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses painting, sculpture, murals, photography, digital media, text, and experiential forms. Based in Miami, his work is shaped by an enduring dialogue with nature, creation, and lived experience. For Herget, art is inseparable from life, emerging through a continuous process of observation, reflection, and discovery.

Working primarily through painting, he investigates the intersections of experience, memory, and perception. His process unfolds in cycles of accumulation and excavation - building, disrupting, and revealing layers over time. Surfaces become records of both intention and surrender, where texture, gesture, and material transformation give form to the unseen rhythms of experience.

Herget’s work invites moments of stillness and presence. Each piece functions as both an artifact of process and a space for contemplation, reflecting the subtle interplay between what is remembered, what is felt, and what lies beyond language.
